NEHAWU Northern Cape Mourns The Passing Of Former Arshall Thembani Dyushu Regional Secretary, Comrade Nombulelo Ntloko
Tuesday May 10, 2022
The National Education Health and Allied Workers Union [NEHAWU] in the Northern Cape has learnt with great sadness the passing of former Arshall Thembani Dyushu Regional Secretary, Comrade Nombulelo Ntloko. Comrade Ntloko passed on after a short illness.
NEHAWU is deeply saddened by her death and conveys its deep and heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and comrades in the Mass Democratic Movement (MDM). We wish her family strength and courage during this difficult moment.
Comrade Bullet as she was affectionately known, was dedicated to the selfless struggle for workers’ rights and human dignity for the people of the Northern Cape. She was a courageous and principled leader of the trade union movement who demonstrated a worthy cause in fighting for a public sector practice that should serve the people. She was amongst the few that understood the purpose of ensuring the dedication of the public sector to the working class and the poor. Comrade Ntloko was a dedicated activist that played a significant role in the upliftment of citizens of the province through her experience as a Social Auxiliary Worker and as a Communist.
At the time of her passing, Comrade Ntloko was amongst the longest serving Shopstewards of the trade union in the region of Arshall Thembani Dyushu, and was amongst the founding members of the Young Communist League of South Africa. Comrade Ntloko was also serving as a District Executive Committee and District Working Committee Member of SACP in the Joe Slovo District in the Northern Cape. She also represented the union at the Provincial Chamber of Public Health and Social Development Sectoral Bargaining Council [PHSDSBC].
In her honour, NEHAWU will intensify the struggle to end all forms of exploitation of workers by employers including defending collective bargaining which is currently under threat from our government.
Death has robbed us of an outstanding leader of the working class who served the union and workers with distinction.
NEHAWU dips its banners at the passing of its Former Regional Secretary. The details of both memorial and funeral service will be communicated as soon as they are available
